DIY Garage Organization

Does your garage need a total makeover? Do you see...

Rakes and shovels on the floor
Nails, hammers, and screwdrivers everywhere
Paint cans and cleaner bottles in every corner

It’s about time you organize your garage. While it is true that a garage is for storing your car, more often than not, it's more than that. Most garages become storage for supplies and tools that don't fit inside the house. If you want space for both your cars and supplies, it must be constantly organized.

That's why, today, I'll share with you 3 steps for DIY Garage Organization. The 3 easy steps are as follows:

  • Shelving. Do you already have a shelving system in your garage? If not, you should put up one. It will keep everything up and off the floor thereby making your garage clean and tidy. You can go for a DIY Wooden Shelf or buy a sturdy, high quality shelving system from your local hardware store.

  • Drawers/Containers. Now that you already have shelves, you need to put your tools supplies somewhere. Items that are constantly used should be easily accessible. So, trash bags, batteries, flashlights and cleaners should be in these drawers. For out of season items and those that are only used during holidays, I used huge and sturdy white bins like these below. They are all white so that they will look neat and great!

  • Labeling - This is important for every organization project. Labels will make it easy and convenient for you to find what you need. For this step, I used the Firefly Craft Chalkboard Labels, of course. These labels look really amazing on white bins and they are reusable and sturdy. I know that they will last long in keeping my garage well-organized. I labeled each drawer and container according to category and you can do the same.
